Thought for Today: Tolerance - As I watch the news and think about this word, I wonder what the Scripture tells us about it; Scripture does not tell Christians to condone the modern idea of tolerance, which accepts any ideas and rarely confronts another's beliefs; we cannot simply ignore the differences between ourselves and those who do not believe. God commands us to share the gospel. But He also calls us to a higher standard than tolerance. We are to love all others, from fellow Christians to our enemies, and to seek unity with our fellow believers.
Bruce Fairchild Barton was an American author, advertising executive, and politician. He served in the U.S. Congress from 1937 to 1940 as a Republican from New York.
He once wrote: "Use God's Word, not what people around you are willing to accept, to set the standards for what is right and wrong".
What a powerful statement. The government now sets the standards of our lives, it dictates what we can and can't do. Just like Hobby Lobby is required by mans law to provide insurance that condones the act of abortion. We need to follow God's law and get this country back on track to serve the Lord and others in need.
Ephesians 4:1-3 - Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
