Psalms 37:4 "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart".
A.W. Tozer once wrote: "No man should desire to be happy who is not at the same time holy. He should spend his efforts in seeking to know and do the will of God, leaving to Christ the matter of how happy he should be".
When we are not walking right with God we find that no sinful desire prospers for long. Though faithful Christians may have to wait for blessings, they will surley come from God's hand.
Sometimes it seems like all we do is wonder why the desires of are hearts are not fullfilled. It may be because the very desires we have are not align with His will. Maybe if we search are hearts we will realize that those desires are worldly.
Romans: 8:5 - "Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires".
When we refocus are energy on what is good, we will find that desires we have begin to fade, this is because we become more align with what God's plan is, and not are plan.
Galatians 5:16 - "I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh".
Lord, give me the desire to follow You so closely I can feel the brush of Your robe. May living near You keep sin at bay. Amen
